D&D Minis
I'd like to get some figures to use for a D&D game I'm thinking of starting IRL, but I'm not really heavily into the minis thing; I just want cheap stuff, not like $5/unit stuff. Basically like, the quality of the figures included in games like Hero Quest and stuff, would be cool. My mat is full of 1"x1" squares.

Does anyone have any idea how to obtain such things cheaply? My only idea so far is to look on ebay for people selling collections and stuff--I've tried looking a little but nothing has jumped out at me yet.

Or--does anyone have any old games of hero quest or similar, that they want to sell parts of? :)

You can buy the packs for the D&D version of HeroClix. There's 5 or so figures in a booster pak. I don't know if you need specific figures, but it's a relatively cheap way of getting painted figures.

My local game stores always have a lot of "commons" from the D&D sets, normally for a dollar or less each. I personally think the D&D booster packs are great values, even though I normally hate collectible set-ups.

Man, I thought the $5 ones WERE the cheap ones.

Thanks a lot. :(

Haha. Well, for pewter/resin minis, I'm sure they are. I don't really need a shitton of those though. A couple might be nice if they happen to fit the PCs. I'd like to have a variety of demihumans/monsters, but I don't really care about quality--I think plastic things such as this should exist for no more than $1/pop. They can be made, as parts of some other games like Hero Quest, but I don't know if they're made seperately. Except en masse as army-men or Zombies.

Zombies!! is a bag of like 100?-ish zombies for like $10. That's cool. I might get that, but it still lacks variety.
